Blood program needs support

Farm Bureau has a group blood donor program through the Blood Bank of San Bernardino and Riverside Counties. Members are encouraged to donate blood at the Blood Bank for the Farm Bureau group, coded GRCF in the Blood Bank computer system.

Under the Blood Bank program, Farm Bureau member families can obtain blood in times of emergencies. In return, Farm Bureau members contribute blood under the Farm Bureau name and must replenish blood used by member families.

The Farm Bureau blood donor program needs more support, reported Health & Safety Chairman Steve Pastor, and San Bernardino County Farm Bureau has been asked to help Riverside keep it going.

He said he made the request at the January 12, 1999, San Bernardino board meeting, his first meeting with San Bernardino since he was elected California Farm Bureau Federation district director.

Farm Bureau members have AD&D insurance

One of the benefits of Farm Bureau membership is automatic coverage under the Farm Bureau Members’ Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance Program, underwritten by Reliance Standard Life Insurance Company.

Benefits are provided as follows:

0 to 3 Years Continuous Membership - $1,000

4 to 10 Years Continuous Membership - $2,000

10+ Years Continuous Membership - $4,000

A member or spouse is entitled to a benefit payment from this program, if, as a result of a bodily injury resulting from an accident, he or she suffers the loss of life, sight or limb as a direct result of the accident.

The full amount of the benefit shown above is payable for loss of: life, two hands, two feet, sight of both eyes, or one hand and one foot. Fifty percent of the benefit is payable for loss of one hand, one foot or sight of one eye. Twenty-five percent of the benefit is payable for loss of one index finger or one thumb.

Coverage is not available for memberships in the name of a partnership or corporation. Benefits reduced if age 75 or older.

This is a summary of the AD&D benefits; however, the California Farm Bureau Federation policy will supersede any of the above information should a discrepancy arise.

To file a claim, the member or beneficiary should request a claim form from California Farm Bureau Federation 2300 River Plaza Drive Sacramento, CA 95833. For additional information, contact Riverside County Farm Bureau at 888/383-5684.
